One of the most exciting parts of the ROHU00353 IHSforROHU training camp in Szentes is the series of friendly matches and amateur tournaments, where young Hungarian and Romanian athletes can test their skills, learn from one another, and most importantly – enjoy the spirit of fair play. The matches are not just about winning or losing, but about creating new friendships, building team spirit, and celebrating the love of sport across borders. With mixed teams, supportive coaches, and enthusiastic teammates, every game becomes a shared experience that will stay in the memory of the participants long after the camp ends.
Highlights from the Training Camp
Sept 10 – Friendly Football Match
Szentes Kinizsi vs Atletico Arad – a great start to the camp where Hungarian and Romanian players met on the field for the first time.
Sept 12 – “Introduction to Water Polo”
A playful session led by Olympic champion Fruzsina Brávik, where participants learned the basics of water polo, practiced movements in the pool, and discovered what makes the sport so unique.
Team-Building Games
Mixed groups of Hungarian and Romanian children competed together in various skill-based and fitness challenges, designed to strengthen bonds and encourage cooperation.

“As a player, I learned that every splash, every pass, and every goal is more than just sport – it is about building friendships and bridges between communities. Today, as president of Szentes Water Polo Club, I see the same spirit alive in these young athletes.”
– Viktor Vörös, President of Szentes Water Polo Club
Youth Water Polo Tournament
From Friday, September 12 to Sunday, September 14, Szentes will also host the three-day Youth Water Polo Tournament, an official part of the festival programme.
Throughout the weekend, young teams will face each other in spirited matches, cheered on by their peers, coaches, and local supporters. The tournament provides a platform for talented youth athletes to showcase their skills while fostering international friendship and sporting values.
More Than Just Competition
The Amateur Tournament is about participation, teamwork, and joy. For many of the young players, it will be the first time to experience international competition – and they will do so in an atmosphere of encouragement and respect.
In the pool and on the field, barriers disappear, and what remains is the pure passion for sport.
