As part of the ROHU00353 IHSforROHU project, the Szentes Water Polo Club and Atletico Arad are organizing a five-day international training camp for young athletes. The camp will provide a mix of professional training sessions, team-building activities, cultural experiences, and sports competitions, designed to strengthen cross-border friendships and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Cross-Border Youth Training Camp in Szentes – ROHU00353 Programme

👥 Participants: 60 athletes and coaches (30 from Hungary, 30 from Romania)
Important Information
This training camp is part of the ROHU00353 IHSforROHU project, implemented within the Interreg VI-A Romania–Hungary Programme.
Please note: participation in the camp is limited to the selected athletes and coaches, and no additional participants can be accepted.
However, the sport events and matches are open to the public and can be attended by visitors and supporters.

Programme Overview
Day 1 – Wednesday, September 10
- Travel from Arad to Szentes
- Arrival in Szentes
- Joint fitness assessment on land with Szentes Water Polo and Arad football players (coach: József Locskai). Team-building games led by László Vecseri and József Locskai.
- Friendly football match – Szentes Kinizsi vs Atletico Arad
- Dinner Campfire and evening social programme (weather permitting)
Day 2 – Thursday, September 11
- Swimming techniques and in-water practice for all players (coach: László Vecseri)
- Stretching and injury prevention session (coach: Peggi Vida), followed by relaxation in the thermal pools
- Excursion to Ópusztaszer National Heritage Park – cultural and team-building activities in mixed groups, discovering Hungarian history
Day 3 – Friday, September 12
- Running and stretching exercises (coach: László Némethy, former Hungarian NB I football champion)
- Swimming and in-water stretching (coaches: László Vecseri, Fruzsina Brávik, Peggi Vida)
- Youth Water Polo Tournament begins – matches and interactive sessions. Arad football players will support Szentes teams.
- “Introduction to Water Polo” – basic rules, techniques, and fun exercises (coach: Fruzsina Brávik, Olympic champion water polo player)
- Sports history lecture – “Why have we always played sports, and how has it shaped us?” (lecturer: József Kádár, historian)
Purpose of the Camp
The five-day programme aims to:
- strengthen cross-border relations between Hungarian and Romanian youth,
- provide high-quality training and mentoring from experienced coaches and athletes,
- promote team spirit through joint activities and cultural excursions,
- highlight the values of sport, health, and community building.
By the end of the camp, participants will not only improve their athletic skills but also form lasting friendships across borders, embodying the spirit of the Interreg VI-A Romania–Hungary Programme.
