Press Release

We are pleased to announce that the joint ROHU project application submitted by the Szentes Water Polo Club and the CLUBSPORTIV ATLETICO ARAD football team has been successfully approved. The preparation and submission of the proposal required extensive preliminary work, and we are proud that the Interreg ROHU00353 – IHSforROHU project can now be implemented until 31 October 2025.

Through this grant, the two clubs have secured a total of 199,735 EUR, of which the Szentes Water Polo Club will utilize 109,998 EUR for the implementation of this cross-border initiative.

The aim of our project is to strengthen and deepen the cross-border cooperation between the clubs of Arad and Szentes, while actively involving the local community.

In these projects, our aim is to draw the attention of the public and club members to the importance of health promotion and daily physical activity. The two clubs have committed to organizing joint training camps in Szentes and Arad for 30–30 young athletes and their coaches. According to our plans, the exchange programs will take place in August and September 2025. At both locations, the joint training camp will conclude with a large-scale city Sports and Health Day. We expect to invite at least 1,000 visitors to participate in sports activities and cultural programmes.

All sports activities, cultural programmes, and health screenings will be free of charge for all interested participants following prior registration. We trust that the planned activities will attract the attention of the local population as well as current and future club members, encouraging them to take an active part in the organized events.

Viktor Vörös and Sándor Mészáros, the club presidents, are already engaged in advanced discussions regarding the detailed programme. In the coming weeks, we will provide additional updates and further information.

The project is funded by the European Union through the Interreg Fund, with the co-financing of Romania and Hungary.
